Where do I start?

Children, Inc. Service Learning Initiative equips teachers with the tools and resources they need to successfully facilitate service learning experiences. Our staff work with teachers to identify and implement personalized, tangible ways they can incorporate service learning into their classroom.

Many teachers go into service learning wondering, where do I start? Here are some ways to kick off service-learning in your classroom:
o Identify a service or volunteer opportunity to turn into service learning
o Begin with a standard curriculum, content, and skills and find a way to extend it into service
o Start with a theme or unit of study to identify content and skill connections
o Start with a student identified need
o Start with a community identified need
