Resources and Programs

Service-Learning is a teaching and learning method that connects meaningful community service experiences with academic learning, personal growth, and civic responsibility.  This powerful teaching methodology successfully unites classroom curriculum with identified community issues and needs.

It is our goal to help incorporate service learning into your classroom as easily as possible by providing FREE consultation, resources and training.

The Service Learning Network

Promotes service-learning projects around the greater Cincinnati area. We generate professional quality photographs, video, interviews and news articles.  The content can be used on school websites and social media platforms and the network has a strong track record of successfully placing the stories with local media – television, print and online.

Jefferson Award for Exemplary Service Learning Projects

Recognizes students who do extraordinary things through service learning without the expectation of recognition or reward.  These are individuals that are changing and improving our community while addressing important issues facing our community.

Grants & Funding Support

Offers grants for service-learning projects in the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati area for up to $500. Examples of requests include transportation costs, materials for a service-learning class, and art projects as reflection activities.

Faculty Training and Consultation

Planning and implementation assistance for service learning lessons. Professional development workshops on service learning and reflection, personalized to your school’s needs.

Northern Kentucky Youth Advisory Board

NKYAB empowers Northern Kentucky high school students to be positive agents of change in their schools and communities. Schools come together once a month to learn leadership skills and to learn from each other as they develop their individual projects around two guiding questions:

  1. What will it take for ALL students in Pre-K – 12th grade to be successful?
  2. How can students help make that happen?

Additional support and resources can be offered on an individual, as-needed basis. We welcome the opportunity to meet with you or interested faculty member(s), to learn about your school’s service learning initiatives and how we can help you meet your goals.
